Marilyn Manson-The Pale Emperor

In January of 2015, Marilyn Manson is set to release his new record, "The Pale Emperor".  After hearing this album, I was stuck on an opinion for a few days to be honest with you all.  I heard the first track released off of it, "Third Day Of A Seven Day Binge", and thought highly of the album probabilities.  Then, recently, another song was officially released titled, "Deep Six".  This song was mediocre, yet just not at the most intriguing to my ears.  Don't get me wrong, Manson's vocal sounds are something I've been drawn to over his career, however, the "quietness" and rather "non-rocking" tracks on this upcoming release, are a huge letdown.  There are some songs worthy of checking into though.  Take for example what is probably my favorite from "The Pale Emperor", and that being the song "The Devil Beneath My Feet".  This has Manson's expected lyrical tone, and he seems as dark as ever in this musical presence.  Another song to perhaps just snag for a few (total) off of I-Tunes upon the release of the album is the song "Worship My Wreck".  Lyrically, this is probably his best effort on the album, and it also has an uniqueness to it.  The only other songs worth grabbing would be the tracks "Fall Of The House Of Death (On Deluxe Edition Only)", and the song "Birds Of Hell Awaiting".  If you are a huge fan of Manson, then by all means, pick up a complete copy, just do not be surprised if it let's you down, because it does lack that sense and feelings you would get from his "Holy Wood" or "Antichrist Superstar" albums.  If you can steer clear of wasting your dollar or whatnot, please avoid the rest of the songs, as they are quite disappointing.  Songs such as "Slave Only Dreams To Be King", "Killing Strangers", "Cupid Carries A Gun", and "Odds Of Even" are disastrous, in my opinion nonetheless.  I'm happy there is new material from Marilyn Manson, but did we really deserve this??  At least it could have been worth the wait, but believe me, it was not.

Leighton Meester-Heartstrings

We all know Leighton from a famous television show, or from  her great work in the film industry, but did we expect her to be able to sing like this?  On "Heartstrings", Meester is captivating, and really portrays the material well.  The craft, and eloquent first single is the album title, "Heartstrings".  This song is very smooth, and has a tempo that is easily able to get stuck in our heads.  The way Leighton laid this track down, is almost perfect.  Almost, because it still shows a bit of inexperience with releasing quality music.  Don't get me wrong, this album is really solid, and I would play it constantly in rotation if the occasion arose, but there are some gaps in this album.  Also, "Heartstrings" is only a nine track release.  This is disappointing to fans of hers.  The best track in my opinion from the album, is the song "Good For One Thing".  This song is resonating, and gives us some taste of her potentials throughout the record.  Other standouts are "Run Away", "L.A.', and "Dreaming'.  For the current price of the album, which I've seen it around nine to ten dollars, you get your money's worth.  There is an impeccable range on the release, and I think we all should experience this.  I suggest you go out and grab the record on the 27th-28th of October.  You will enjoy this, but beware, don't expect a perfect record.  This is an enjoyable record, not perfection though.

Sometimes Julie-Head First

Sometimes Julie, hailing from the state of California, are an impressive
duo.  With their release of "Head First", the full length gives us many tastes of fantastic music.  Take for example the lead cut, "We Are Golden".  It sets a melodic mood, with lyrics that would sooth any drive home these days.  The best track off the album is the title cut, "Head First"  It has a more uptempo beat, with lacing guitars, and desolate lyrics and an excellent arrangement indeed.  Another stand out song is "Time Flies".  "Time Flies" shows of perhaps the bands range of style, and the pulsating vocals of the lady herself, "Monica Sorenson.  The guitars are quite better than I honestly expected.  Rick Walker, who is the prime guitar player on "Head First", goes above and beyond really.  With good range, and such a passion for music, it really shows off well in the arrangements and the beats of the record.  You can catch great examples of that in tracks such as "Reckless", "What A Rush", "Wishin' You Were Here', and the crafty one called "Come Find Me".  Overall, I was quite impressed with the album as a whole.  If there was a "weak spot", I would say it would be "Carefully".  However, the fourteen track release is just about perfect overall.  It is excellently packaged, and the artwork, which are depictions of basic ocean scenery and the beauty of the California coast lines, is beautiful.  I recommend this effort, give it a shot, it will surely impress upon you a quality you weren't expecting!

Fiction Killer-Wake Up Screaming (Single)

Ty Oliver and the gang are back again, with their second single off of their upcoming
Summer release.  This time, it's the title track of their album, "Wake Up Screaming".  Due out on April 1st, through the band's official website, which you can find the link below, the single is a little different then the prior, "All My Enemies Are Dead" release.  However, this instance, different means better.  The "synth-like" beginning is bad-ass, and the following intro kicks major tunage out of the window.  If this song reminds you a little of most of the Davey Suicide album, then great!  I see a lot of the influence in this track.  Ty Oliver does an excellent job instrumentally in this masterpiece, and lyrically, it's better than their first release.  Omar Montanez's vocals are much more clear in "Wake Up Screaming as well, making this song a welcome choice for me to say, download the fucker!!  Also, download it to support this up and coming band, not because it is a free download, but because it is bad as hell!!  I am fortunate enough to be in touch with this band, and I feel bad for the "loser" band that lost Ty, and it's obvious in that band's music he's not there.  It's obvious in Fiction Killer's music that the "killer" is present, and the music is on the loose...let it ride, let it thrill ride, and turn the fucking radio, cd player, or whatever you have "Wake Up Screaming" playing on, up!!  Fiction Killer deserve your visit, so head to a link below, and say hello, tell 'em Jason sent you, or tell them their music kicks ass, either way....download!!!!
