In This Moment-Black Widow

Maria Brink and her band are back, and they are still doing what they do.  The band, In This Moment, are set to release their new album, "Black Widow", on November 18th, 2014.  Featuring thirteen standard tracks, with another special edition holding fifteen songs, "Black Widow" contains some metal, ballad material, rock, sexual themes, and a rawness that makes this one of the most distinct bands today.  With their lead single, "Sick Like Me", there is diversity shown, and it is done well.  Here soothing tone at times, mixes well with the tempo, and it was displayed pretty solidly.  "Bloody Creature Poster Girl" and "Big Bad Wolf" are of a different breed than, say, "Sick Like Me" is.  Those previously two mentioned songs have a different groove, and they really add some different elements to the album.  My favorite track is the "ballad-like" song, "Sexual Hallucination", which features the lead vocalist from the rock band Shinedown, Brent Smith.  This is incredibly well conducted, arranged, mixed, and sung.  Brent's vocals soar and blend in so well with Maria's, it become almost surreal.  This record has some weak moments though, with the songs "Out Of Hell", "Dirty Pretty", and "The Fighter".  However, according to the going rate price, or at least the introductory pricing for "Black Widow", you really can get your money's worth here.  The final track I would like to mention is the strong one called "Bones".  I really enjoyed this song, and it holds some strong dynamics, and the lyrics/vocals are portrayed almost to perfection.  This would have to be a close second to my fave off the release.  I would say this album is one of In This Moment's best, and I recommend this to anyone seeking either something new to listen to or get into, as well as the regular In This Moment fan out there.  Grab it up either digitally, the Best Buy bonus track version, or even the standard edition on this upcoming Tuesday!

Banks-Goddess

Wow.  I am a fine of all kinds of music, but I will admit I fell in love with this record right when I heard it.  "Goddess", the latest from the passionate and soulful artist, Banks, is purely brilliant.  Especially the enjoyable "deluxe" edition.  I really cannot name a favorite track from this album, there are so many, but if I had to, I would go with "Warm Water".  With haunting vocals at times, and blissful tracks such as "This Is What It Feels Like", Change", And I Drove You Crazy", and Bedroom Wall"-they all make you shutter and quiver with intrigue.  "Fuck Em Only We Know: is an excellent symbol for this album because it's as if Banks does not care what anyone thinks, she has realized her talent and artistry is purely awesome, and don't think for a moment she does not know it!!  I highly recommend this release, whether you decide on the "deluxe" package, or the "standard" release, I can promise you that you will indeed be pleased!  Enjoy that stunning voice!

Stiletto Red-Her Love Is A Lie

Orlando, Florida has one fine product here in the band Stiletto Red.  Wow.
I saw this on I-Tunes and thought I'd give it a shot, no promo or advance copy was sent my way, I just saw it, and sampled the record, then went to you tube, checked out the "Bigger Man" video, which I loved, and I had to do a review on these guys, they deserve recognition, far beyond what they have right now.  Again, it's only my opinion, but I know this band has a strong future ahead.  What I enjoyed most about this ten track, standard edition release, is that it rocks from the beginning, melodically to the end!!  I enjoyed the kick starter of the track, "Into The Night".  Then the path was kept ablaze by tracks such as "Her Love Is A Lie", "Out Of My Head", and "Hey, You!".  Yet, as much as I fell for the video and song, "Bigger Man", I still discovered myself addicted to the song which has become favorite track of the album, "Further Addiction".  Lyrically, the strongest of the bunch, and overall, it connected with me and my life experiences  overall, it meant and still does mean, a lot to me, and I appreciate this band for writing such a great song and putting it out there, awesome stuff guys!  Below, you will find the video for "Bigger Man", I hope you enjoy what you hear, and if you do, or want to hear more, there will be more links below to sample the band's album, even stream the whole deal, and to purchase the record itself, either in digital or physical form, I have digitally already, and hope to buy in hard copy form one day as well.  I highly recommend this release, and hope you enjoy this as much as I did, go on now, I'll let you go....pick this up in any fashion....just get it in your ears my friends!! Lovin' it!!

Dido-Girl Who Got Away

Dido has returned, after her "safe trip home", and with her fourth album, she has shined bright yet again.  The album hits the US on March 26, 2013 in both standard and deluxe versions, the deluxe being a 2-disc collection, which features remixes as well as a few standard bonus tracks.  This album is a lot more comparable to her debut, LIFE FOR RENT, release.  It has a bit more of a collaborative style than LIFE FOR RENT, however, Dido's vocals are more clear, crisp, and darker.  Basically, lyrical-wise, she is much better now, than before.  Her current single, "Just Say Yes", is my favorite track of the album.  It is edgy, with a twist of pop and rock....I love the combination, I'm sure you will as well.  If I had to pick a least favorite song from this record, I'm sorry to say, but I believe I've found a weakness in the song, "No Freedom".  The track is very repetitive, and at times, quite dull.  I see it as a single release, however, I just think the single lacks strength, and in comparison with the rest of the album, it doesn't stand neck and neck at all.  A crowning moment is the rap collaboration on the album, with the track, "Let Us Move On".  I enjoyed that song, and think it is the best to aim toward radio play, as was Eminem's stance with the song, "Stan".  Though, I will admit, this song is not as good as "Stan", it is quite the effort nonetheless.  Dido has proven leaving behind the band, Faithless, was a good choice to this day, and she still has what it takes to keep us interested in her music, and her brilliant vocals.  I recommend grabbing the standard version, and if you want some bonus track, hit up the digital outlets.....the remixes aren't quite worth extra money, if you want an honest opinion.  Overall, a good release for Dido, not her very best, but much better than her previous two, that is certain.

Buckcherry-Confessions

Buckcherry are back, and better than ever.  CONFESSIONS is their latest effort, and it
throws us all kinds of rock and roll riffs and lyrical twists.  Their current single, "Gluttony", is simple, and straight forward rock.  Lyrically, it's to the point, repeating over and over "...I want, I want, I want.....I need it, I need it, I need.....".....however, catchy is good in this track's case.  "Wrath", is a bit of a slower track, but allows lead singer, Josh Todd's vocals to shine a bit more than previous songs, and really helps to balance this effort as a whole.  Some other sins, such as "Pride", "Envy", and "Lust", help to power this rockin' machine of a record.  Century Media has done well with the band on the album, and it shows very well with this release, both standard and deluxe versions.  My favorite song of the entire album, I will admit, is the song, "Greed".  I think it is lyrically the strongest track on the record, and vocally balanced very, very well.  One of the finest lyrics on the record has got to be from this track, "....I don't care 'cause I want it bad, the consequences-they don't fucking matter, everyone's going mad.......'cause greed will drive you mad.......I'm a cold motherfucker that never gets screwed....".  The deluxe version contains two bonus tracks as well, and the best out of the two is the rocker, "When The Fire Starts".  The song is very deep lyrically, and shows that Buckcherry has not lost their edge at all, if anything, they've become stronger and much, much better as a whole.  Also, the deluxe version has a quite simple dvd, which includes the music video for "Gluttony", a lyric video for "Gluttony" as well, a behind the scenes look at the music video, and the band's meanings and stories behind the album, CONFESSIONS.  Grab this, no doubt.
