Scent Of Remains-Under A Blackened Sky

Scent Of Remains are here to being the ripped off face of metal to your doorstep.  Wow!  If you are a fan of Devildriver, Wayne Static, Dope, Watain, and more metal acts with ferocious riffs and terrorizing hooks, this band will knock your seat out from under your ass!  "The Forfeit", is a straight rocker, brutal, deep, and a screamer that definitely eats at the core of aggression.  If this song doesn't get your attention, I am not sure what song would wake your ass up!!  The songs, "Hold You Under", my favorite track off the record, is brutal, in your face, and smacks the fuck out of you.  Basically, if you weren't wanting to jam, rock, or jump around, then this song has pretty much already made you do that by now, ha!  For some melody, hit up the track "From Ash We Rise", it still has the brutality, but very reminiscent if an All That Remains track, the song kicks it hardcore, and has infectious and melodic hooks!!  Definitely came close to my fave off the record!!  Another killer track, one that rips the eyes from the mirrors you stare into wondering if what you're hearing is for real, is "Exhale Oblivion".  That's all I can really say to that tune, perhaps also I can throw in a "wow"!!  Overall, the album is a continual burial of hard rock, metal, some thrash, brutality at it's finest.   If Ozzfest were alive today, they would be there for sure!!  You definitely want this if your a fan of the above bands, including All That Remains, Drowning Pool, Soil, Devildriver, and others.......ending this album with the song titled "These Dying Days" is incredible.  The song completes the journey, and is one hell of a song.  Feel it, love it, rock to it, and most importantly, fucking support these guys and buy it!!

Emperors And Elephants-Devil In The Lake

Want to take a swim?  Emperors and Elephants are ready to bring a tidal wave of rock to your musical ears .  Leading off the album with the smasher, "Bring It Down", you get a vibe that something bigger is coming on this album, and folks, I promise it is.  With DEVIL IN THE LAKE, Emperors And Elephants have brought their souls with the rock and rolls, and dance the devil out of his fucking shoes......burn it baby, burn it!!  "Who You Are"...begs you to "Rise!!!" and your body wants to tear the air up with aching grooves and a rock and roll melody that some of us can only imagine we could play.  Is there a weakness in this album?  I would have to say it just doesn't have enough tracks, I wish there were more!  I wanted to hear more of this "infectious", solid, and driven rock that Emperors and Elephants brings with them.  I am confident fans will see this and another album will be on the way, but for now, let's enjoy the one that is due January 27/28 of 2014!!  Inside the record, all the goodies you find are the track, "Your Will", which has already been spinning in Chicago on their rock stations, and you have to really love the take of Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game".  I know some may think this lame, I thought the same thing at first, but after hearing the version by Emperors And Elephants, I give credit where credit is due, and must say it's a solid take!  Nice cover, indeed!  "Hit Of Red" is my favorite track off the album, and I end on this note because this song resonated with me so much, and I want to thank this band personally from the bottom of my heart for writing this track.  I know its a slow song at first, then a rocker once it picks up, but lyrically, I felt it deep.  Emperors And Elephants touch different emotions and different highs and lows of life on this record, and to say this isn't worth your money, well, that's definitely a lie.  BUY THIS UPON IT'S RELEASE, IT'S WELL WORTH IT, BELIEVE ME, ROCK AND ROLL LIVES with these guys!!

Tantric-37 Channels

Hugo Ferreira's masterful tone within this record will leave you "astounded".  37 Channels, the resilient band's fifth full album after kicking dust all over Travis Meeks' Days of the New project, is their strongest since the debut effort released back in 2001.  Each song seems to tell a story of Hugo's journeys in life, and his emotional ups and downs that he may or may not have struggled with.  The lead track, "Again", boasts great guitar, melody, and yet has simply lyrical content.  Yet, that grit in Hugo's vocals grabs us by our ears and pulls our souls into this record, right into the "37 channels".  Brilliant guitar work and the fact you wanna jam right away to it, make it a hell of a beginning to the album!  "Blue Room", the following song, sets a bit of a calmer world for the listener, then we start to catch a groove and rock to it.  However, if I had to pick a least favorite off the record, again, "IF" I had to, I would go with "Blue Room", but living up to "Again" was tough anyway.  Now, the first single, and the rocker, "Mosquita", really caught me and my mind off guard!  I flatout love this song, by far.  It is obviously my favorite off the record, and it reminds me so much of early Tantric.  I enjoy the blues-like tones, and angry lyrics at times.  Hell, it even has some country, Cajun breakdowns!  This is the Tantric we once knew, and Pavement Records has chosen wisely, done well, and will see success with this record, no doubt!  "Mosquita" is a hit, and I smell a top ten already!  Some other memorable, and power tracks from 37 Channels are "Rise", "My Turn", "Bullet", and my second favorite from this thrill ride, a milder diddy known as "Broken".  The writing is much better, the vocals are more clear, the instrumental ranges are much more eccentric, and this album is far more worth it, than the previous releases by Tantric, maybe except for the first record.  I'd say you could place this one up there with their self-titled debut from twelve years ago.  Hugo and the guys have put together a masterpiece here, and chosen a great label home for it as well!  Well done!
