Le Projet-Quatre

"Quatre", is the debut EP from a "supergroup" of musicians.  You will definitely recignize them, and their other musical products as well.  The band, Le Projet, consists of Lenny Cerzosie, who is part of the other supergroup known as The Infinite Staircase.  That band released an album that was directed more toward world affairs, and life's difficulties occurring these days.  Also in Le Projet, you get the talents of Mr. Adam Kury, also known as the backing vocalist and bass player for the California based band, Candlebox.  We all know they kick ass.  Then, we enter Morgan Rose.  Morgan is well known for his presence and drumming in the highly talented and rocking band, Sevendust.  He also worked in the Clint Lowery-led project, Call Me No One.  Finally, the power and very strong force behind Le Projet is the man himself, Kevin Martin.  You will without a doubt, recognize his vocals and screams from his bands such as Kevin Martin and The Hiwatts, The Gracious Few, participation in the band The Infinite Staircase, and more so in the alternative rock band, Candlebox as the lead singer.  "Quatre", which hopefully is just a small taste of what is more to come of this project, is incredible!  You get four tracks, but basically three due to the first song off the EP, "Little Shits", having an alternate version of the song as the final track on the release.  Both versions are explicit, and the vocals are gritty, and Kevin Martin and the guys really did well on "Little Shits".  I was impressed from the very beginning, by accidentally coming across a Youtube video by Le Projet, featuring their song, "Head Down".  The song is track three on the release, clocking in around 4 minutes long, which is about thirty to forty-five seconds shorter than the other three songs on "Quatre".  The song "Save Yourself", has perhaps the best lyrics out of all the tracks on this effort, and it also, to me, shows how diverse this band can be.  You really can't go wrong with purchasing this record.  From all I have personally witnessed, it's only priced at less than four dollars for the entire EP of four songs.  So, basically just about a dollar per song, but I'd grab the entire release, you save a few cents and also get a really solid rock album.  Experience all these band members like you've never heard them perform before.  Well arranged, well written, and well done, period.

Sevendust-Black Out The Sun

Sevendust seem to get better and better with every release in every aspect.
Their latest effort, an album called BLACK OUT THE SUN, set for a March 26th, 2013 release date via 7brothers Records.  Their first single, which has been blasting the radio waves for weeks now, is called "Decay".  It's a very catchy song, but for me, it's too original, and just does not cut it for me as a rock fan at heart.  Now, my favorite song, and probably one of the heaviest and best lyrically ones from this record, is the song, "Cold As War".  This track sent chills throughout my spine and kicks major ass, keeps the album rocking, as it is centered around the middle of the album.  Another shocker is the intro, "Memory".  This made for one excellent leadoff intro, and as usual, Sevendust was successful in pulling that off on this album.  I highly recommend you head to Best Buy or Amazon to pick this up as a physical copy, mainly because all thirteen tracks kick ass, and Amazon has it listed right now at about $10, and Best Buy has yet to list the album for preorder, but I'm sure the price will be around the same, it's all up to you of course.  "Murder Bar" is a major thrill ride, and one that really caught my attention was the reckoning called, "Dead Roses".  That's one song you will place on repeat, I can guarantee you that much.  I recommend you preorder it digitally on I-Tunes, because they have an excellent deal on it as well, all of which you can find from a link below.  Another song, to end this review with, that you must jam and listen to from BLACK OUT THE SUN, is "Got A Feeling".  This song resonates well with my life experiences, and I believe it will with some of yours as well.  IT's time to rock out, March 26th!!

Dark New Day-Hail Mary

Dark New Day are no stranger to the music scene.  Their previous release, NEW TRADITION, sold moderately well, and stirred up excitement amongst their fanbase, both current and past, that  future releases were upon us.  If you recall, Dark New Day released their first album back in 2005, titled TWELVE YEAR SILENCE.  The effort had the hits "Brother", and "Follow The Sun Down".  "Brother", was a favorite amongst radio the most, causing a stir, also because of who the band was composed of.  The band featured Clint Lowery, his brother Corey Lowery, Brett Hestla, Will Hunt, and Troy McLawhorn-all famous musicians from bands like Stereomud, Evanescence, Sevendust, Virgos Merlot, Creed, Stuck Mojo, Skrape, and Tommy Lee.  HAIL  MARY was released, along with an album of B-Sides, as digital downloads, early last year, for a limited time only.  This time, they delivered on a promise and gave fans what they wanted, a physical copy for collective purposes, and the way it was meant to be presented.  Here, we finally have, HAIL MARY.  The album kicks off with a bang, in the track, "Goodbye".  The song jerks your attention to the core of rock, and the essence of music is heard as you begin to get lyrically reeled in by words like, ...."this time...I'll never heal....".  You can feel the anger, the torment, along with the song.  "Vicious Thinking", has more of a catchy hook, a kind of pop mix to it, and is not necessarily a rocker on the album, but fits nicely at track three, nonetheless.  If you want a rocker, crank up the track, ""Saddest Song", with "..you are a tragedy.....you are the saddest song ever written...you're unforgiven...".  Lyrically, the song is one of the best on the album.  My favorite track, overall, on this album, has got to be "Fiend".  It has strong lyrics, angry tones, and aggression that fits this band very well.  It is the heaviest, in my opinion, on this record, but I believe you will jam to it as well.  If you are a fan of Shinedown, Sevendust, or even some Alter Bridge, this record should appeal to you.  If this would be the first time you hear this band, grab the other two released hard copies, because they are worth every dollar you spend, whether at a music store, Best Buy, or even I-Tunes or Amazon.  I definitely recommend this album for any rock fan out there!
