Red Tide Rising-The Rising

"The Rising", by the rocking band, Red Tide Rising, has been released for about a year now.  However, I think that I have to put my "two cents" in on the release.  I fucking love this!!  I mean, the record kicks off with a strong intro titled "Rising Tides", and it doesn't look back from there.  With power-laced vocals, and earthquake-like guitars, bass, and drums, you are given such a treat within "The Rising".  Wow!  "Shadows", the fourth track on the album, presents a haunting-like vocalization, and is lyrically dark with lyrics like "Is this a nightmare, am I wide awake...".  You can't help yourself to be familiar with those words, we all have felt that way before.  The song "Misery" rocks in a more upbeat fashion, yet, still brings the power-driven lyrics and drumming on this song is incredible.  Love it!  My favorite track on "The Rising", I would have to say without a doubt is "The Choice".  With lyrics like "....and I don't mind you walking away....", it really resonates with me.  Perhaps that is why it has become my favorite part of the record.  "The Otherside" and the song "The Rising" are such perfect fits for the release, as they give us a taste of solid beats and that forceful voice of the vocalist, Matt Whiteman.  If you want some harder rock n' roll-like portions, then look no further than "Vicious Circle" and the cut "This Is War".  Also on the album are thrillers such as "We Are The Hunted" and "2:13".  Let me just state, that it was a close one in picking my favorite track, so I would like to say that the track "Cold" is an excellent piece of the album as well, it give us a sense of the late Type O Negative-like arrangements.  To end, I would highly recommend you picking up "The Rising" today, adding to your collection with a powerful, melodic, and blazing album.  Check out one of the links below, and see it for yourself.  You can also head to your digital stores, such as Amazon and I-tunes.  You will not be let down by the band, not even close!  Catch them live this fall with Like A Storm and the throttle called Drowning Pool.

Slipknot- .5: The Gray Chapter

It's been some time ago, since this metal band has let loose with their vibrant renditons of the "darker side" of this life we all live.  Now, we are fortunate enough to hear the most haunting epic piece ever given by the powerhouse known as, Slipknot.  With the lead single from this latest record, they showed us they mean fucking business!  "The Negative One" us a rocker!  With riffs so hard, and a chorus we couldn't forget, this single let us into this darkness that Slipknot has let out.  "The Devil In I" was to follow "The Negative One", and with that we got to hear a bit more of Slipknot's diversity.  The single's cover art was even more eerie and darker than I had first imagined it being, as it hit my desk for promotional purposes.  I really love that song, but it's not my favorite from this epic release.  My favorite track from "The Gray Chapter" effort is titled, "The One That Kills The Least".  This one is killer without a doubt.  It redefines music brutality, and expels strong and epic lyrics that make us fans desire for more darkness and anger to fill our music-loving minds.  Of course there is more strength to this album than those songs.  You dive into some real metal with the track "Killpop".  The song, which is number five on the album, a third of the through-reels us into an abyss of hard metal.  Gone are the relentless screams of agony and frustrations that defined Slipknot some years ago, and in are the angry riffs and thunderous vocals by Corey Taylor.  Of course Corey was busy with his other project known as Stone Sour lately, so perhaps he learned how to harness his anxiety and anger.  You can tell by this release, that Corey did just that.  "Custer" is flat out bad-ass!  "Be Prepared For Hell" is an example of finely tuned song writing skills, and they are matched with a drastic change of metal and heavy rock n' roll.  This song is very good at pounding are brains in, and is definitely a force to be reckoned with when this album drops on October 21st, 2014.  Some other favorites off this record are "Custer", "Sarcastrophe"-which is brilliant to say the least, and the epic fundamentally sound of "If Rain Is What You Want".  "If Rain Is What You Want" is much like the former stronghold of the past beautiful track called, "Snuff".  I highly recommend this album, especially for the deluxe version, which features two bonus tracks known as "The Burden" and "Override".  Those two bonus tracks won't let you down, I guarantee it!  You may want to grab this early and pray that the shipping people get it to you earlier than the 21st, because people will for sure be talking about this for months and years to come, no doubt.  However, be known that this album does have a couple weaknesses.  With "Nomadic" and the song "Lech", we are left with some songs that seem to be "fillers" for the whole album, which is the main reason I recommend grabbing up the deluxe edition.  It all makes up for it, and in the end, we are all left with an album to be reckoned with, that is for certain!

The Persevering Promise-An Illusion In Shambles

In shambles is not where this band is going to be found at all.  The Persevering Promise, who recently released a lyric video for their solid and promising track, "Annabel Lee", smash in your ears with hardcore vocals and lyrics that tear into your soul.  The first track is a basic intro song, with a few lines, but it gets straight to the fucking point, and makes your body want to get "amped up !!"  Follow that up with the electric power of the album titled track, "An Illusion in Shambles", and you feel like you can mosh and slam shit all over the place already, but hey-it's just track two guys, c'mon.  "Crown the Victor" and "A Reason to Believe" are really powerful post hardcore, melodic, and gripping tracks.  "A Reason to Believe" features guest vocals by Ronnie Winter, who you may know from the band, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.  This song lets down some of the screaming guard, but makes this album excellent in my opinion.  By far, it has to be my favorite from the album.  "Etherality" has brilliant guitar-laced melodies, classic drum beats, and most importantly, a sound that defines the words instrumental and screams.  Think of it as a haunting tune, that echoes with anger inside.  I flat out love this band's style!!  If you prefer utter brutality, then their song "The Death of All Things Pure" pretty much will suit you just fine.  It's an in your face, smasher.  Jump, jump, and bang that head around some more, this album is all about enjoying the music you love.  If you love metal, rock, post hardcore, or simply, heavy music in general-this is a must without a doubt.  I have to comment about my second favorite track before I leave you, and it happens to be the final album track.  The track is titled, "The Whistleblower".  First, the title is great, just intriguing I suppose.  The vocals are far different than the rest on the album, which I truly enjoy.  This song makes me want to place this on a road mix and drive for miles, jamming out to The Persevering Promise, amongst other great artists, like We Came As Romans, The Devil Wears Prada, Letlive, and others....excellent work without a single doubt, I have nothing bad to say at all, simply nothing, except......why do I have to wait until September 17th to grab this puppy up?  Trust me, it will be worth it!!

Devildriver-Winter Kills

Dez Fafara can fucking scream, period.  Roar, he may, and shred the air with his vocals he does on
WINTER KILLS.  On this, their sixth studio album, due out August 27th, the band sounds fresh and ready to rip into some heavy metal heavens!  This marks their debut on Napalm Records, and it leaves them showing no mercy, once again.  With their first single having dropped a couple months back, "Relentless", it gave us a taste of what was to come.  However, I must be honest and say I was not expecting what WINTER KILLS provided.  This record tears it up!!  The second cut, and first video, "The Appetite", is pule pounding, addicting, and holds hook after hook of head banging threshold.  If you were a fan of their debut effort, this one is definitely for you, there is absolutely no doubt at all.  There are moments where you hear "Cry for Me Sky" moments, and "I Could Care Less" instances as well.  It freaking rocks, or in Devildriver terms, it "fucking" owns.  The best song, in my opinion is the ear shredding, pulse overloading track "Gutted".  It does not let up, however.  It tears into walls with tracks like "Tripping Over Tombstones", Winter Kills", and "Shudder".  Overall, I am thoroughly impressed with this effort, and believe it deserves a high rating, not because I am a fan, but because this is a complete album, and these days, those are rare.

Spring The Trap-Spring The Trap EP

Just formed over a year ago, in January 2012 to be exact, Spring The Trap are
exactly what today's music scene needs.  Their debut EP, which is available through one of the links below, is quite the EP!  The lead track has a great beat to it, a music throwdown, if you will.  The track, titled "Lucid", is not my most favorite off the EP, but it's definitely worthy of buying and jamming to the core with, one hell of a son indeed....the vocals are so crisp and clear.  Near the middle of the EP release, there is an intro-like track, which clocks in just under forty seconds, it is called, "In An Instant".  I love the haunting chants on this, and it could easilty be tacked on for any of their cuts as introduction to them, I'm a big fan of good intro cuts, and I love this one.  To keep it honest, I'd have to say my least favorite track is "Brainstorm".  It's a good one, don't misread me, it just lacks the "rocker" instinct, like the other tracks seem to with hold.  "Faceless", well that's a rocker for sure.  I love this song, it is my favorite off the EP, and I have no doubt that you all will find some thunder about it as well.  The song is great lyrically as well, which I enjoyed.  This band, for only being around such a short time, is showing such potential, you definitely want to pick up a copy of this masterful music production!!  Like I said earlier, click one of their links below, and you'll find a link to purchase the EP, no doubt.  Now, I'd like to give another song some credit, and it's their song, ""Gone".  It is more melodic, almost has a feel to it, such as a "good" Trapt song, which is hard to find these days, prior to their REBORN record.  I loved "Gone", and I know you're going to as well, which makes my point.  This EP is six tracks long in total, and I promise you it's worth every dollar spent, so purchase the whole thing while your at it, "like" their facebook, and join them on Reverbnation as well.  This band has a future that looks so bright, it's lying ahead....and you'll wanna jump on this thrill ride for sure!!

Sevendust-Black Out The Sun

Sevendust seem to get better and better with every release in every aspect.
Their latest effort, an album called BLACK OUT THE SUN, set for a March 26th, 2013 release date via 7brothers Records.  Their first single, which has been blasting the radio waves for weeks now, is called "Decay".  It's a very catchy song, but for me, it's too original, and just does not cut it for me as a rock fan at heart.  Now, my favorite song, and probably one of the heaviest and best lyrically ones from this record, is the song, "Cold As War".  This track sent chills throughout my spine and kicks major ass, keeps the album rocking, as it is centered around the middle of the album.  Another shocker is the intro, "Memory".  This made for one excellent leadoff intro, and as usual, Sevendust was successful in pulling that off on this album.  I highly recommend you head to Best Buy or Amazon to pick this up as a physical copy, mainly because all thirteen tracks kick ass, and Amazon has it listed right now at about $10, and Best Buy has yet to list the album for preorder, but I'm sure the price will be around the same, it's all up to you of course.  "Murder Bar" is a major thrill ride, and one that really caught my attention was the reckoning called, "Dead Roses".  That's one song you will place on repeat, I can guarantee you that much.  I recommend you preorder it digitally on I-Tunes, because they have an excellent deal on it as well, all of which you can find from a link below.  Another song, to end this review with, that you must jam and listen to from BLACK OUT THE SUN, is "Got A Feeling".  This song resonates well with my life experiences, and I believe it will with some of yours as well.  IT's time to rock out, March 26th!!
