Beartooth-Disgusting

Caleb Shomo is one bad motherfucker.  This guy can scream and tear it up like nobody's business, as he did in the former band, Attack Attack.  Well, my friends, Caleb is here with his new project, Beartooth.  Their first release, the EP titled "Sick" has sold thousands, and it proves a stomping ground was on the way with Beartooth and their label, Red Bull Records.  With the throttling song, "I Have A Problem", which was the first single ever, the band lets loose, and tears the vocals chrods out of anything that stands in their way.  The current single, "The Lines", is brilliant and the lyrics are the strongest you will find on this 12-track album, titled "Disgusting".  Caleb's voice sounds hardcore as hell in the songs "Dead", "Relapsing", and "One More".  My favorite song off this release of hopefully many, many more to come, is the track "Body Bag".  It just resonates with me quite better than any of the other songs, and the tempo is brilliant and incredibly well layed out.  If I have to pick a second favorite song, it would be "Me In My Own Head".  I enjoy the vocal arrangements on this one, and it really pounds hard in the speakers, no doubt about that.  Overall, all twelve songs are great, and well arranged.  I recommend, though it has been out since early Summer of 2014, you pick this up anywhere you can find music, and as they played the Vans Warped Tour in 2014, here's to hoping this relentless band will once again rock out on the 2015 edition of the tour!

Capture The Crown-Reign Of Terror

Capture The Crown are back at it again, with their third release "Reign Of Terror".  They have signed a record deal with Artery Recordings, and I have to say this release is pretty solid.  It is a little bit of a departure from their style and sound from their previous two releases, the first being "Til Death", followed by the limited release of the EP, "Live Life".  The beginning of this release, "Reign Of Terror" is an intro titled "Reign Of Terror", and it leads into the pulse pounding track, "Red Light District".  This song is gut-wrenching, and it is a true post hardcore gem.  The song "Smirk", which follows, is nothing but another fucking killer track!  Their sound may have changed, but it is still a force to be heard and reckoned with.  It took me a bit to take in the change and accept it, but the change also shows the growth of the band, behind the front man and lead singer, Jeffrey Wellfare.  Recently, the band has undergone major changes in their lineup, but Capture The Crown seems relentless in their pursuit of being one hell of a screaming force in this music industry.  "Firestarter" is a track that is killer and has become my second favorite song off of "Reign Of Terror".  It reminds me of their previous songs off their first two releases.  It is quite the jam, that is for sure!  My favorite track is actually two songs, that are tied for my faves.  "Oxy Sunrise" and "Beating The Blade" are excellent reminders of how raw and pure post hardcore and "screamo" music can be.  Other standouts off the album are "To Whom It May Concern" and the lovely track "Janina".  I recommend giving this a try, as it is currently and has been at a cheap and great price.

I See Stars-New Demons

Hailing and tearing it up all the way from Warren, Michigan, these guys have been through
total hell and back.  Having had appearances from the likes of current rising country music star, and former lead vocals of the Warped Tour group, Hey Monday, Cassadee Pope-the band has had it's variances.  On their first record they had the power rap the man himself, in Bizzy Bone.  However, we're talking about the NEW DEMONS record here, and this album tears shit up.  Kicking off with a nice intro of "Initialization Sequence", which we can imagine as a crowd starter at any concert, and I would love to catch a show, no doubt.  The aggression launches into full throttle with the angst of "Ten Thousand Feet".  The scream, and haunting growls make you want to tear your ceiling off and jump as high as you can.  Lyrically, it's not composed as perfect as most out there, but it is well out and gets the anger across well to where we get the fucking picture, it's angry time!!  "New Demons", the title track to the effort, is incredible, it is pure anger, and with lines such as "I pray I forget you", please don't forget this song, as I doubt you will nonetheless.  This is a jam for certain!  On track six, "Murder Mitten", which they recently shot a video for the single, it is by far my favorite off the album.  The beats go hand and hand.  Vocally they offer more diversity on this track than any of the eleven others.  I  mean, with twelve heart pounding tracks, and head banging rage, where could you go wrong.  The price is reasonable as well.  Sumerian Records did well once again here, and I believe you buy the hard copy, you get one or two stickers inside as well!  Hey, more freebies!!  Overall, buy this digitally or physically, its a pounder, and well worth the beats it rips through the frequencies in the air!!

A Skylit Drive-Rise

A Skylit Drive are well known for their screams and haunting lyrics.  RISE, their latest effort, grabbed my attention from the very start.  The cover was very unique, and from the sample I had heard, I was yearning to hear more.  The first cut I had heard, titled "Fallen", was floating around, and ended up on the special edition version.  This track had edge and a smoothness to it.  However what set them so far away from previous records they had in the past was the track called, ""Save Me Tragedy".  This is an incredible song, and caught me off guard!  I love this song, and it made me want a few copies of this record.  They belong on tour now, and I hope to catch them soon!  Do yourself a favor for the price f under ten bucks, pick up a copy of this one, it will not disappoint you.

The Persevering Promise-An Illusion In Shambles

In shambles is not where this band is going to be found at all.  The Persevering Promise, who recently released a lyric video for their solid and promising track, "Annabel Lee", smash in your ears with hardcore vocals and lyrics that tear into your soul.  The first track is a basic intro song, with a few lines, but it gets straight to the fucking point, and makes your body want to get "amped up !!"  Follow that up with the electric power of the album titled track, "An Illusion in Shambles", and you feel like you can mosh and slam shit all over the place already, but hey-it's just track two guys, c'mon.  "Crown the Victor" and "A Reason to Believe" are really powerful post hardcore, melodic, and gripping tracks.  "A Reason to Believe" features guest vocals by Ronnie Winter, who you may know from the band, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.  This song lets down some of the screaming guard, but makes this album excellent in my opinion.  By far, it has to be my favorite from the album.  "Etherality" has brilliant guitar-laced melodies, classic drum beats, and most importantly, a sound that defines the words instrumental and screams.  Think of it as a haunting tune, that echoes with anger inside.  I flat out love this band's style!!  If you prefer utter brutality, then their song "The Death of All Things Pure" pretty much will suit you just fine.  It's an in your face, smasher.  Jump, jump, and bang that head around some more, this album is all about enjoying the music you love.  If you love metal, rock, post hardcore, or simply, heavy music in general-this is a must without a doubt.  I have to comment about my second favorite track before I leave you, and it happens to be the final album track.  The track is titled, "The Whistleblower".  First, the title is great, just intriguing I suppose.  The vocals are far different than the rest on the album, which I truly enjoy.  This song makes me want to place this on a road mix and drive for miles, jamming out to The Persevering Promise, amongst other great artists, like We Came As Romans, The Devil Wears Prada, Letlive, and others....excellent work without a single doubt, I have nothing bad to say at all, simply nothing, except......why do I have to wait until September 17th to grab this puppy up?  Trust me, it will be worth it!!

BearTooth-SICK

Red Bull Records has picked a winner here, there is no doubt!  Beartooth is an electric band, from
the midst of Ohio, and screaming from the chords of former Attack Attack! screamer, Caleb Shomo.  This is one of hardest working, road working bands out there, they are touring nonstop, have been before getting signed, and even released this EP, titled SICK, for free (sign up required) on their website.  The songs, all four, are brutal, fierce, and ferocious.  It all kicks off with their first single, also available on I Tunes, titled "I Have A Problem".  The video, which was shot at a live show in Columbus, Ohio, is classic.  Ripping ceiling fans off, throwing items, crowd surfing, and shredding the crowd is a concert to remember, but a typical one if you are a Caleb Shomo or Beartooth fan.  "I Have A Problem" showcases the vocal range of the band, and the lyrics definitely describe life's struggles, it's ups and downs, and the drives one must have to admit the truths needed to become what's needed to be who you are needed to be, even if you indeed, "have a problem".  Following that up is the pulse pounder, "Go Be the Voice".  Whether you question God, religions, or your faith in general, this is just for you.  All I can say for this track is that it rocks, it makes you want to jump, jump, and pound the floor some more, and more!  My friends, that's what Beartooth is all about, bone crushing music!!  "Pick Your Poison", the third track of the EP, is the lightest one of the effort, and screams less, it has more of a melody to it, and is my second favorite off of the EP.  However, to name my favorite track, I have to go with the final track on the release, that track being called, "Set Me On Fire".  The very start, with the echo of "1-2-3-4....", and the anger you feel, the intensity, the rage that builds....it's a real thrill to hear.  If you can resonate with this track, even some of the lyrics, this one's a hit for you, for sure.  Nonetheless, supporting this band is a no brainer if you are a fan of Caleb, or a new fan, or even a fan of metal, rock, or post hardcore music.  Try this band on for size, they definitely will catch your ass off guard, surprise you for sure!  #FearTheTooth wasn't a gimmick, it was real, and now it's time to deal with it....catch this band live, virtually everywhere......check out a link below for more!!

Blessthefall-Hollow Bodies

Well, if you have been to the Warped Tour recently, you know this band well.  They headlined, they
crushed the stage, they crowd surfed, they shredded mics, they tore shit up, and now they have written all their blood into a little album they penned as HOLLOW BODIES.  This one, my friends, is quite the masterpiece, in a beautiful, brutal way.  It features guest appearances from the beautiful voice of Lights, and the hardcore vocals from the Stick To Your Guns' front man, Jesse Barnett.  Their first single, cleverly titled "You Wear a Crown, but You're No King", blisters your mind with rage and excitement.  It makes your hair quiver and the earth around you shake.  Jump, jump, you know that you wanna!!  Kicking the record into high gear, is the powerful tune, "Exodus" !  This one if quite simply, filthy.  My favorites of the album are the third off the album, the title of the album, "Hollow Bodies", and the song the features the harmonies of the females vocalist Lights, titled "Open Water".  These are my highlights off this August 20th release.  There are some obvious fillers, such as the songs "The Sound of Starting Over" and "See You on The Outside".  However, to really appreciate this album, there is a song called "Buried in These Walls".  This song is incredibly well pieced together, and quite the masterpiece overall.  It is one of there best efforts to date.  HOLLOW BODIES shows definite growth as a band for Blessthefall, and I know the fans will not come out of this purchase disappointed at all, and will feel quite rewarded.

Vanna-The Few And The Far Between

On March 19th, 2013, Vanna unleash their latest nail biting album.  This time,
the music more raw, aggressive, and straight to the point.  The lead single, "Year Of The Rat", is a mere sample of the power this album really has.  You'll really enjoy this record, especially if you enjoyed their prior release, which was called THEY CAME BARING BONES.  The albums aren't exactly similar, but the notion can be heard.  My favorite track from THE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN is the cut, "Casket Rhythm ".  This track just blows me away lyrically, aggressively, and the music is so hardcore, it could quite make me pissed off....lol.  I love it.  Some other highlights for me on here include, "When In Roam", "The Lost Art Of Staying Alive", "I Said I'm Fine", and my second favorite track "The Weekly Slap In The Face".  Now, if you want to just go digital on this release, go ahead, it's your choice of course.  However, the cover to the record (which is seen above), and the current price for the physical copy, which is in many stores at $7.99, leads me to believe buying this album in hard copy format is worth is.  It helps the artist a little more, and makes for a part of a collection as well.  I enjoyed this album quite well, better than I expected to be honest.  I believe you will definitely rock to this piece of work as well...tear shit up on the 19th!!

It's Criminal-Believe Me (Single)

Canada has done it again-unleashed a pretty solid effort here.  It's Criminal, a band
from Vancouver, has released their single, "Believe Me".  The track sounds similar to the likes of Bless The Fall, or even Senses Fail per say.  It's Criminal does an excellent job of blending electronic styles, with hardcore screams and rock.  They've cut a rather funny and "strange" music video for the single, and the song has ramped up speed in amount of plays recently added to more and more radio stations.  I think the song is pretty solid, and would suggest heading to cd baby to purchase the track digitally for sure, It is a rather honest, brutal, and solid song.  Plus, you're introduced to a new band, and therefore, new music, which is always a great day!!  Check out the video below, and the links, and watch out because It's Criminal ! is headed nowhere but up, and you may just be in the way!!  Rock on!!

Bring Me The Horizon-Sempiternal

Bring Me The Horizon are going to hit us hard this April with their new release,
SEMPITERNAL.  The first single from this rocking album, "Shadow Moses", is incredible!  The music video is incredible as well, and is featured below.  The album is full of tracks that rake the ground and spit hardcore spirits in your fucking face!  For example, the song, "The House of Wolves", lyrically one of their best ever, has the band tearing the walls down with every ounce of energy that never seemed reachable.  Wow, what an album!  "Go to Hell, For Heaven's Sake" is a little less brilliant lyrically, but overall, the screaming is deafening, and the track is easily my favorite on the album, especially the way it fits on this record.  I truly enjoyed this release, and hope and believe that you will as well.  So, that I do not give too much away, a final track that I believe will rip your roofs off, is the song ""Hospital For Souls".  This is one hell of a track and the fact that it's the standard version's ending track, is fitting, as you will soon see once you acquire the record.  I highly recommend you pick this record up, somewhere toward the end of April, it's a must!

Crown The Empire-The Fallout

Wow, what a record!  Crown The Empire has laced up their hardcore,
electronic boots and began kicking music's ass all over the place.  Currently finishing up the Take Action Tour, which featured We Came As Romans and The Used, the band are set for another major tour announcement to come within weeks.  Their singles are "The Fallout", "Oh, Catastrophe", "Makeshift Chemistry", and "Memories Of A Broken Heart".  They have, or soon will have, videos for the mentioned tracks.  My favorite song on this album has got to be none other than, "Makeshift Chemistry".  The line toward the end of the song where the vocalist simply states, and somewhat screams, "....I don't give a fuck!!!!...."-love it, love it!!  There is much energy, rage, and lyrical passion on this album.  Now, the band does have a previous release titled, LIMITLESS, which was an EP, and it did quite well for being an independent release.  It featured the upbeat and angry, "Johnny Ringo" track, which is still played live these days by the band.  Over time they have gathered an immense following, creating a popularity amongst many hardcore fans, and even some bands love their music.  I enjoy the artwork on their latest album personally, myself.  I highly suggest you pick this album up, it's only a $9.99 to $11.99 physical CD in most stores.  However, if you prefer digital, I am sure the price is around the same, if not a tad lower.  Grab up the "Empire" today!!

Capture The Crown-Til Death

Capture the Crown are one of the most criticized bands I have ever come across in this
industry.  I know people love to call the band "copycats" and a lot of other names, in which you could pretty much imagine are all derogatory.  They do sound similar to bands like Asking Alexandria, Of Mice and Men, I See Stars, and others....however, they have more anger I believe.  Capture The Crown started out as a youtube band, releasing their first single, and music video for a song called, "You Call That A Knife?, This Is A Knife!".  That track is full of rage, anger, and lots of tilted, angst-filled words.  However, today's music, that formula seems to work well.  The album, which was released from Sumerian Records by the way, was released in December of 2012, exclusively to Hot Topic stores in hard copy form, and digitally on I-Tunes.  It is available almost everywhere now, these days.  They did a few lyric videos for songs, and a cover song of Jason Derulo's "In My Head".  This is one fucking bad ass cover track!  It did not make the album, for whatever reason, but it is far perfect for a future "Punk Goes Pop" release, no doubt.  Some of my preferred tracks from TIL DEATH are "OIMATEWTF", "Deja Vu'", "Storm In A Teacup", and "Insomniac".  My top two favorite songs are a heavy ass track called "RVG", which I believe has something to do with revenge, but I have yet to confirm the meaning of the three letters.  The other fave of mine is their current single and music video, "Ladies and Gentlemen.....I Give You Hell".  This is a sick, angry, hell of a song.  I say, take $9.99, go buy this freaking album, and rock out....you will love it, and vent at your own pace....I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of hardcore music, like Beartooth, Gift Giver, Hatebreed, Asking Alexandria, I See Stars, Of Mice and Men, Crown The Empire, and more....Alright, 'nuff said....grab a copy, and blast this shit!
