Beartooth-Disgusting

Caleb Shomo is one bad motherfucker.  This guy can scream and tear it up like nobody's business, as he did in the former band, Attack Attack.  Well, my friends, Caleb is here with his new project, Beartooth.  Their first release, the EP titled "Sick" has sold thousands, and it proves a stomping ground was on the way with Beartooth and their label, Red Bull Records.  With the throttling song, "I Have A Problem", which was the first single ever, the band lets loose, and tears the vocals chrods out of anything that stands in their way.  The current single, "The Lines", is brilliant and the lyrics are the strongest you will find on this 12-track album, titled "Disgusting".  Caleb's voice sounds hardcore as hell in the songs "Dead", "Relapsing", and "One More".  My favorite song off this release of hopefully many, many more to come, is the track "Body Bag".  It just resonates with me quite better than any of the other songs, and the tempo is brilliant and incredibly well layed out.  If I have to pick a second favorite song, it would be "Me In My Own Head".  I enjoy the vocal arrangements on this one, and it really pounds hard in the speakers, no doubt about that.  Overall, all twelve songs are great, and well arranged.  I recommend, though it has been out since early Summer of 2014, you pick this up anywhere you can find music, and as they played the Vans Warped Tour in 2014, here's to hoping this relentless band will once again rock out on the 2015 edition of the tour!

Starset-My Demons (Single)

Dustin Bates is already known for his talents in his successful rock band, Downplay.  However, he has ventured out to a new scene, and you can help but get a "thrill" vibe from this effort.  I have only unfortunately had the the chance to hear a couple of tracks, like the ravaging tune called ,"Carnivore", and the very well remixed version of  their song "Let It Die".  To top it all though, the current single, which was a song written back in the Downplay days, "My Demons", blisters the airwaves, as is evident by it's current chart success on Sirius Radio, and other national radio outlets out there.  The infectious hooks pull you in, the song is evident of Dustin's true talents as both a writer and a musician.  This is a single you have got to pick up, and the album, when it does drop, grab a couple...one for the car, and one for home.  It will elevate your music level to the stars  and your "demons" sure has hell won't find your ass there!!  Wow, got to love this song!

Nine Inch Nails-Hesitation Marks

Industrial rocker, and music icon Trent Reznor's new look Nine Inch Nail's line up on tour, hasn't seemed to affect the music he pours his soul into.  Introducing the record is the entrancing short intro titled "The Eater of Dreams".  It leads way into the first full length song, which kicks into gear  as
"Copy of A".  This song, along with a track called "Everything", are sounds of very early Nine Inch Nail's material, and lacks the heavy chords we lust and wait in lines for.  Our anticipation most assuredly wasn't hoping for this.  "Came Back Haunted", is a solid tune, which was their first single released off the album, and its similar to a cut, in my opinion from their solid album, WITH TEETH. "Find My Way", sounds like a more bluesy, Johnny Cash influenced track.  Nothing against the legend himself, I just think Reznor could have used more anger, and much less boredom and sadness thus far into the album.   "All Time Low" hits the spot for me, it definitely is my favorite track from the record.  Even still, the WITH TEETH feel remains, but you get more of a FRAGILE residue from this one, and that rocks, in my accord.  The vulgar language show Trent still has the attitude, and knows what he's doing lyrically, I don't he's lost it with this album, I just think the diversity with it may be too much for the great anticipation.  "Various Methods Of Escape" takes us on a journey that reminds you of THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL days, with a bit less of anger.  Nonetheless, its a major song to reckon with on HESITATION MARKS.  "In Two", shows an '80's vibe, with an electronic twist, and aggressive tone, and a reserved tank for anger that Trent readies for release at any moment.  "Black Noise", is a perfect ending to the Non-Remix disc of the deluxe edition.  It is highly instrumental, holds ups and down, very dark and grey in areas, and has scratchy moments that give the listener reason to believe Nine Inch Nails is not over with as a band yet.  This is a hesitation..........I say, don't "hesitate", on September 3rd, pick a copy of the record, HESITATION MARKS up ,and give it time, you'll enjoy this.  No disappointment overall!!

BearTooth-SICK

Red Bull Records has picked a winner here, there is no doubt!  Beartooth is an electric band, from
the midst of Ohio, and screaming from the chords of former Attack Attack! screamer, Caleb Shomo.  This is one of hardest working, road working bands out there, they are touring nonstop, have been before getting signed, and even released this EP, titled SICK, for free (sign up required) on their website.  The songs, all four, are brutal, fierce, and ferocious.  It all kicks off with their first single, also available on I Tunes, titled "I Have A Problem".  The video, which was shot at a live show in Columbus, Ohio, is classic.  Ripping ceiling fans off, throwing items, crowd surfing, and shredding the crowd is a concert to remember, but a typical one if you are a Caleb Shomo or Beartooth fan.  "I Have A Problem" showcases the vocal range of the band, and the lyrics definitely describe life's struggles, it's ups and downs, and the drives one must have to admit the truths needed to become what's needed to be who you are needed to be, even if you indeed, "have a problem".  Following that up is the pulse pounder, "Go Be the Voice".  Whether you question God, religions, or your faith in general, this is just for you.  All I can say for this track is that it rocks, it makes you want to jump, jump, and pound the floor some more, and more!  My friends, that's what Beartooth is all about, bone crushing music!!  "Pick Your Poison", the third track of the EP, is the lightest one of the effort, and screams less, it has more of a melody to it, and is my second favorite off of the EP.  However, to name my favorite track, I have to go with the final track on the release, that track being called, "Set Me On Fire".  The very start, with the echo of "1-2-3-4....", and the anger you feel, the intensity, the rage that builds....it's a real thrill to hear.  If you can resonate with this track, even some of the lyrics, this one's a hit for you, for sure.  Nonetheless, supporting this band is a no brainer if you are a fan of Caleb, or a new fan, or even a fan of metal, rock, or post hardcore music.  Try this band on for size, they definitely will catch your ass off guard, surprise you for sure!  #FearTheTooth wasn't a gimmick, it was real, and now it's time to deal with it....catch this band live, virtually everywhere......check out a link below for more!!

At Night We Strike-Your Own Skin (Single)

Well, it's been some years now, but we finally have what we want; more Brandon Rike.
The former Dead Poetic vocalist, has returned with a brilliant, and amazing project, titled, At Night We Strike.  Started way back in January of 2011, Brandon has somehow, found the time to record those unmistakable vocals between the graphic design work, and family life, and given us a beautiful product.  He has done so with a former member of the Texas band, Oh, Sleeper by the name of Lucas Starr.  The bassist is working with Rike from Dallas, and along with another member, they are putting together a masterful, I'm sure, full-length album, that I would say will be released in 2013, but knowing how great this collaboration could sound together, it may be longer.  The bottom line is that it will, I can promise you, be worth the wait.  I had the fortunate opportunity to see Brandon and his former Dead Poetic band mates growing up at local churches, and clubs.  I consider myself lucky.  Such a talent, and I honestly was not aware of what I was witnessing.  The first single, from At Night We Strike, is titled, "Your Own Skin".  This song reminds me of a lot of Dead Poetic's tracks from their VICES album.  The most comparison I can give, which I use to mention often, is to the DP track, "Paralytic".  However, this ANWS song is much more definitive, more clear, more "darker", in ways that benefit "us", the fans and listeners.  Industrious, powerful, and honestly-better than I thought I stayed up until 1am to listen to this morning.  There are links below to listen to this song, and I highly suggest you do, and you just gotta, I mean Brandon Rike's voice sounds better than ever, and the engineering in this song is incredible, and the production is well-done.  A definite hit!!

Above Only-Above Only EP

Formed somewhere between late 2009 and 2010, Above Only have worked their asses off in
trying to gain interest from labels, build fan bases, and make music that installs belief in people do they can believe and follow this band with all they're about.  They are about hope, dignity, rock and roll, and purely determination.  They have roots in Cincinnati, Ohio and Memphis/Chatanooga, Tennessee as well, which brings pride to both states, with such quality musical talents.  This band, is not only just pure rock and roll, they are a well bred machine, with heartfelt screams and melodic epicenters that tug at your souls.  This latest self-titled EP, contains only three songs, but all three are worth all the three bucks, or I believe it would be about $2.97 total via Amazon's totals.  Hit up a show, they have many, and grab a hard copy of this EP, it's going to be a collectible, no doubt about that one for certain.  My favorite track from this EP, is the one that ironically spent about ten weeks at # one, titled "Evil Never Sleeps".  The song is lyrically powerful, and has a Christian rock side to it as well, I believe it has a lot of staying power on radio, in my opinion of course.  I love all three tracks, but if you asked me which one had to be the weakest track, I would have to pick the song, "Change".  The only reason is because it seems to not fit, but again, it's tough to fit in a track in a three song EP, for certain!!  I look forward to a major album release by these guys, and their management company I am sure is on top of that as we type, read, and speak.  For now, head to one of the links below, and check out Above Only, then buy their latest EP.  It's a great, rocking price, and an excellent release!!  I promise!!

Jettison Deathtrain-Fallen Kings

Cincinnati, Ohio is booming with bands lately, and Jettison Deathtrain is one of
the largest sparks to the that "booming".  The band, which pretty much well formed in the year 2009, has garnered a huge home fan base, and does not seem to be slowing down at any point soon.  Their latest release, FALLEN KINGS, in full of six dynamic track, including a close to forty-second interlude, that helps show us the "bridge" between styles of lyrical passion, and simple rock and roll.  Lead vocalist, Matt Cowherd, has one unique and strong voice, and many other bands can't compare.  Of course people always try to compare bands to the likes of Pearl Jam, Creed, Soundgarden, and other popular band from the days back then.  However, Jettison Deathtrain doesn't compare at all.  I mean, there are similarities of course, but one will find that with all artists, no doubt.  Jettison Deathtrain is on a path for success on a much higher level.  If you want to catch a show, ot buy an album, simply click a link below, and you will discover more information on just how to do that.  They are quite the incredible band!!  My favorite track on this six track effort has to be the song, "Falls Around You".  The song is quick, angry, catchy, and will lead to you placing that pedal to the medal.....(not recommended...lol).  Another few tracks that caught my attention were "Forever", and the lead track, "Babylon".  You have to grab this album today.....all tracks, even the intro in the album, are strong as hell, and these "Kings", aren't headed anywhere but up, help them tear Cincinnati up tonight, the tomorrow!!  Check them out for sure!!
