Blessthefall-Hollow Bodies

Well, if you have been to the Warped Tour recently, you know this band well.  They headlined, they
crushed the stage, they crowd surfed, they shredded mics, they tore shit up, and now they have written all their blood into a little album they penned as HOLLOW BODIES.  This one, my friends, is quite the masterpiece, in a beautiful, brutal way.  It features guest appearances from the beautiful voice of Lights, and the hardcore vocals from the Stick To Your Guns' front man, Jesse Barnett.  Their first single, cleverly titled "You Wear a Crown, but You're No King", blisters your mind with rage and excitement.  It makes your hair quiver and the earth around you shake.  Jump, jump, you know that you wanna!!  Kicking the record into high gear, is the powerful tune, "Exodus" !  This one if quite simply, filthy.  My favorites of the album are the third off the album, the title of the album, "Hollow Bodies", and the song the features the harmonies of the females vocalist Lights, titled "Open Water".  These are my highlights off this August 20th release.  There are some obvious fillers, such as the songs "The Sound of Starting Over" and "See You on The Outside".  However, to really appreciate this album, there is a song called "Buried in These Walls".  This song is incredibly well pieced together, and quite the masterpiece overall.  It is one of there best efforts to date.  HOLLOW BODIES shows definite growth as a band for Blessthefall, and I know the fans will not come out of this purchase disappointed at all, and will feel quite rewarded.

Soil-Whole

Ahh, yes, Ryan McCombs has returned to Soil.!!  This is a welcomed return, indeed.
Soil was sorely missing his presence, during the time he was roaring his vocals throughout Drowning Pool's stage performances, and sales went up dramatically.  Eventually, Ryan found something in his heart, inside his talent, he found his home.  Soil.  With the new release, the album is titled WHOLE.  The cover, which was derived from an article that a member of the band read at an airport, is rather point blank as to what the album is all about......life.  Kicking off with the pounding thriller, "Loaded Gun", the song roars with the familiarity of the band's days of their album SCARS, and REDEFINE.  The kicker on this record is the roar of "The Hate Song" and the track, which is number ten off the record, "Little Liar".  There are a couple of slower moments on the record, one which I found a bit odd, the final track, called "One Love".  The song, though different, does set them apart, which makes this a differentiated release.  Soil makes a rock album shine with the release, and has done it with Ryan at the helm again, and the roar has been heard again, and again!  On the 20th of August, grab a copy of WHOLE where you can, and dig into the music, Soil style!

Blue October-Sway

After some years off, and an awesome book written, not to mention-well written; Justin Furstenfeld has returned to glory with this epic release.  Due to be unleashed with butterflies on August 20th, 2013, the band will surprise the shit out of the fans and the reviewer with the record's tone.  I will admit, there are dark moments in and out of this album, but overall, this is a much lighter effort, the lyrics are all there, the passion has grown brighter, and the fans seem to have gotten what they really wanted in the end, a much mentally healthier vocalist of the band.  Justin, with whom you are aware battles mental health ordeals, which I, myself, the reviewer do daily as well, can feel him on.  SWAY goes and take the lighter emotions and shows the music world this band can sing and play them quite well and with pristine elements.  There is the short lived track number one, which sets the tone for the album very well, the the album title, "Sway", which is my personal fave.  The heart of the album, is filled with grit.  You get glimpses of anger and frustration, but only to end in smiles and hollowed out hate.  These songs, like "Hard Candy", "Fear", and "Things We Don't Know About", leave us with the edge we are all used to by Justin.  My favorites from this record are the songs, "Not Broken Anymore" and the epic song, "Debris".  I highly recommend you pick this up on it's release day!

Fiction Killer-Catharsis Mode (Single)

If you thought that Fiction Killer were toying around with their first
two singles, well, then prepare your ears for this noise.  "Catharsis Mode" is a powerful storm of brutality that sounds like a combination of the first two singles, yet, I must admit, a bit more "pissed off" and "angrier".  With a rapidly growing fan base on facebook, and a recent exposure to the well known event, Rock on the Range, Fiction Killer is "lit up".  This summer, you can catch samplers being passed around at events in the Midwest for sure, such as the Rockstar Mayhem Festival in Noblesville, Indiana!!  Also, why not work some promo at the Cincinnati, Ohio stop of the Vans Warped Tour on July 30th?!!  If you don't believe, you will after this single, it will obliterate your speakers, and tear a hole into all you thought you knew was "heavy" rock music!!  With the vocals of Omar, and the genius of Ty Oliver leading the rest of the band, Fiction Killer is still primed and ready!!  "Watch for "Catharsis Mode" on their site for download on June 13th, 2013!!

The Wil Martin Project-Outlier: Volume One

Mark your calendars for this release.  May 7th, Earshot vocalist, Wil Martin, is set
to unleash an EP of acoustic tracks that are worth everything you spend on them.  "Every song I write is a story of a personal journey or expression, documented in song", Wil states.  This being said, makes each of these beautifully composed tracks so brilliant.  "True Friends", which kicks off the EP, is masterful.  This song brings us into a world of colors, storms, and a world that takes us into natures that break each of us into pieces that are weak and strong.  My favorite line in the song has got to be "..and all the bullshit people talk about-it seems to never end...".  I completely agree.  Wil seems to be defiant to change who he is, for that he has always gained my respect.  The acoustic guitar on the track is excellent, and shows another crafty side to the Earshot front man.  Track number two may sound familiar, because it was put up on his Reverbnation page awhile back, though in early form.  The song is titled, "Hard To Say".  The haunting chants in the background aren't immune to the powerful tone of Wil's melodic and familiar Earshot tones throughout.  People, now please do not mistake the two.  This is not another Earshot record.  Earshot is more electronic, rock, and heavier music.  The Wil Martin Project, is an "acoustic masterpiece" on Earshot's wall.  Both, though, classified as brilliant.  "These Lies" follows us along the EP, and instantly reminds me of a"hit"!  I loved this tune, the moment I heard it.  It is my favorite off the entire release, no doubt.  I love the tone he take with the hook in the tune, when he says "...but these are the lies.....".  This is a talented, excuse me, one hell of a talented musician.  Period.  Remember, this review site does not hold back, I tell it point blank!  I have honestly been eagerly looking forward to this review for months.  I am, yet still, pleasantly surprised on how well this EP turned out.  "These Lies" is so great.  Track four, which you'll come to learn to be "Already Know", is a straight laced, acoustic ballad.  With guitar plucking, vocals tearing through melodies, and Wil's words embracing our souls-this track is an essence of the EP.  In a sense, it is a simply put, great track, no other way to put it.  Now, with "Call on Me", being next up, refer back to an earlier review we did.  This song got an eleven out of ten rating.  I could sum it all up like that, end it there.  However, lyrically, this is my favorite song overall, period, I still stand by it's rating, bottom line.  Yet, as for the EP as a whole, I stick with my gut and ears, and my favorite track will remain "These Lies".  "Fades Away", concludes the effort, and it does so boldly.  "The sky feels like it's falling, and so do I.....again...", lyrically written well, and the harmonicas sounding in the background turn the song into a blissful end to volume one of one excellent EP.  On May 7th, follow a link below, and grab a copy of this EP, do yourself justice, one hell of a favor, it's the best music release on that date, so do it!!  I'm telling ya', it's brilliant!!
